As It Is or As I Am – the Art of Becoming

A journey … towards … being

Using our practical wisdom – psychologists or economists?

An interesting quote from Barry Schwartz:

“… we should listen to psychologists not economists …”

Are we becoming too rule bound, that there is no longer room for wisdom or what might be termed common sense?  The authors are not advocating breaking rules, rather encouraging people to get involved in changing rules to be more appropriate. This of course takes time and energy, which many, in the current climate, unfortunately, find themselves lacking. For me Barry speaks of putting individuals first, not just applying rules because they are there.  We need empathy and love when deciding if or how a rule should be applied.  While the examples given are non UK based, the principle has easily application here. Though this TED talk is 23 minutes 23 seconds long, but worth the listen.
